This session was a gift from Janelle's husband Richard, to showcase her strong bond with her sweet pup Louie! I love when people give the gift of photography. It always ends up being such a special gift because it's both an experience and the end result of getting beautiful photos with the ones you love most. Janelle is so close with her boy Louie, she described him to me as the love of her life. I totally understand that feeling! They've been through so much together and it was amazing to hear a little bit about their story. Louie is not only her companion and pet, he's her hero.
We met at a local park to take a little hike in the woods. The whole family came along for the ride, but this day was just about the special bond between Janelle and Louie. I love the way his beautiful cream coat looks against the dark background of the trees and plants. Louie was such a good sport, jogging when we asked him so we could get action shots, sitting and laying when we wanted portraits. He also posed really well with Janelle for some sweet shots together. I was so glad to be able to capture some beautiful shots of this special pup for his biggest fan to cherish.

I’m so excited to be coming back to Barkfield Road in East Northport for the first time since the pandemic started! I’ve missed doing photo events there so much. It’s such an amazing pet store! You need to visit if you're a Long Island dog lover! They’re putting on a Fall puppy parade around the square they're located in and a costume contest. The winner will receive a gift basket with goodies from the store and a gift certificate for a free half hour session and a $50 print credit from me. The event will be on Sunday, October 16th from 10am-1pm and will be sponsored by Primal Pet Foods! Look out for PSLs for the pups made with their pumpkin spice goat milk!

It's such an honor to be nominated for Best Pet Photographer on Long Island. This is the third year in a row I've been nominated, and each time it happens, I get such a shock. My mom is a retired librarian who worked at my local library for 45 years, so I feel like libraries are a second home to me. That’s why I love working with libraries here on Long Island to run pet portrait programs for their patrons.
I’m adding another one to my list this year! I’ll be at the West Babylon Public Library on October 22nd from 1-4pm in their outdoor garden area to take photos of your furry friends. We have a rain date of October 23rd in case of inclement weather. Participants will receive a free 8x10 and digital file of their photo!
This program is open to patrons of all Long Island libraries.

I first photographed this beautiful family in 2018, and every year since then I've had the honor of being a part of documenting their family's memories. When I dropped off their products from this session, mom Sarah showed me the many places around their house where my photos are displayed. It meant so much to me to see that!
This last session was done to commemorate their youngest James' first birthday. We decided to do it at a local dog-friendly park so that their furry eldest child (Benjamin Franklin, a consummate professional), could join in on the fun. James takes after his family in that he can pose with the best of them. We joked that with his suit and bow tie, he looked like an adorable tiny Godfather.
Older twin siblings Nathaniel and Caroline blew me away with how well they behaved. They were about 2 months away from turning 4 at the time we shot this, and they listened so well, I was thoroughly impressed! As long as we allowed them to do the occasional silly shot, they were game for anything. You'll see one of those shots in the slideshow below. I love showing these types of photos to clients because (though I am -AHEM- a serious artist and professional businesswoman) I am at heart a very silly person myself.
As a small business owner, when clients come back repeatedly, it's such a gift. To have clients who book every year and really show their appreciation for what you do, I can't tell you how much it means! Here are some of my favorite shots from our session!

Sadie's dad Daniel got in touch with me because he received a gift card from a friend for this session. I love when people give the gift of photography, so I was excited to meet him and his pup! He and I discussed a few options for where we wanted this shoot to take place, and he kept going back to how much he loved the view in his backyard! That worked perfectly, because dogs are usually the most relaxed and at ease on their own turf!
Sadie is a beautiful Vizsla with a gorgeous deep red coat and such a sweet personality. She had fun running around the pool, playing ball in the yard and exploring the dock behind their house. She's a young dog so she had a ton of energy! We got plenty of action shots, but she also posed beautifully alone and with Daniel. You can tell from their photos that they have a very strong bond! Sadie looks at him like he hung the moon, it's so sweet to see!

As a Long Islander, it’s pretty much a requirement to love the beach so this was a really fun session to do. I’d never been to this particular beach in Greenport and it was so beautiful! I met Kelsey and Michael there with their dog Ollie for some pet portrait and family shots. Ollie is a super cute golden doodle pup who was only around 8 months old when we had our session. For such a young pup, he did such a great job sitting still for our photos.
He loved posing on the sand, rocks, driftwood and even let us put a bandana on announcing that his parents were getting married! You could tell he wanted to jump in the water the entire time but he waited so patiently so we could get plenty of dry shots before he plunged in the water for some fun! He had a blast in there, so much so that he went just a little too far and his dad had to wade in a little to get him to come back to shore!
I love the shots of all of them cuddled up together as the sun set over the giant rocks. It was such a beautiful session and that golden sun was the perfect end to it. Here are some of my favorite shots from the session!

This session is a throwback to when I got to meet my beautiful baby cousin Riley! I had so much fun photographing the newest member of my family Riley’s dad is my cousin and we were so close growing up, so this session was really special for me. The whole time I was photographing little Riley, we reminisced about our childhood and our awesome grandmas.
My grandma Freida (AKA Mema) and Robbie’s grandmother Celeste were sisters and thick as thieves. My Aunt Celeste was always the life of the party with a quick wit and a sharp tongue. Mema was a quiet and calm sweetheart whose house was the center of our family gatherings for so many years. They were the perfect contrast to each other and they both loved all the kids in the family fiercely. We had such fun times with the rest of our cousins growing up and I hope the next generation of cousins in our family has just as many special family memories as we do!

I love every opportunity to take photos of my adorable little nephew Seth (if you've read my blog before, you probably know that haha). So when my sister bought this super cute Easter outfit for him and asked me to take some shots of him in the studio, of course I obliged.
Now, Seth is almost 4, and not a dog, so he's a little outside of my expertise. I'm so used to photographing newborns and pets, that I almost got dizzy with the little ball of energy that was bouncing around my studio. Three and a half year olds don't fall asleep if you give them milk and they don't sit and stay for jerky treats, but I did have some luck promising him he'd get a present if he'd sit still for more than 1/4 of a second. If all else fails, I'm not above bribery.
Even though it was a chaotic session, we got some beautiful shots. He can be such a ham. Like in the first shot below, I didn't even ask him to do that with his hands. I guess being my constant model since the first hour of his life has taught him a few things! Here are my favorites from Seth's session!

Looking back at this session makes me miss the fall so much, I swear! I did this shoot with the parents of the wonderful Handsome Zeus who I've photographed many times. Go check him out on Instagram! Katrina and Andrew are getting married at the end of the year, so we met this past October to commemorate their engagement with some photos at the beautiful Peconic River Herb Farm.
Katrina came well-equipped with plenty of props and ideas for the session. She even got me involved in making a video for her to post on TikTok and Reels! As a certified old curmudgeon, I am always slow to try out new stuff, so I haven't done any of those kinds of videos for social media yet. But now I can say I participated in one, at least! We got some really special shots of the engagement ring balanced on Zeus' nose, which I really love. I had to lay flat on the ground to get that one, but Katrina has a lot of experience with taking photos of her dog, so I knew she wouldn't think I was weird! Sometimes with pet photography, you have to get very creative (and a little messy) to get the shot!
