Welcome to the world, Nadya! This precious girl came to visit me for her first photos. At first, she was wide awake and not terribly interested in modeling. Once she fell asleep, we were able to do tons of poses with the little princess. We even got her beautiful mom and handsome dad in on the fun. I love the photo of this tiny little girl in her dad's arms. I'm so honored to have been able to photograph the beginning of this family.

It's not typical to get a beautifully warm day in November on Long Island. When you do get one, you take advantage of it and head to the beach!
I shot this session with the Cameron Family at Robert Moses Beach, with the beautiful backdrop of sand, water and the Fire Island Lighthouse too! Apparently, a lot of other folks had the same idea. You can't tell from the photos, but the beach was packed. (Thank goodness for Photoshop's clone stamp tool).
We walked along the paths, strolled the beach, and even built a snowman out of sand and shells. His name? Sandy, of course.
This session shows that taking Christmas photos can be fun! Cruising the beach sure beats standing on line at the mall, huh?

Think it's too late to shoot that Christmas card photo? That's ok! Take advantage of having the whole family in town and come in after Christmas for family portraits in all the new sweaters you got from Santa!

Today I'm highlighting a fun family session I had at Heritage Park in Mt. Sinai.
I've been photographing the Bryan family since their baby shower for their first child! It's been great to watch their family grow over the years. At this session, we set out to capture their first family portrait since baby Liam arrived! He definitely inherited his older sister Morgan's big smile.
Here are some of my favorite images from their session!

The fall is a great time to go outside for family portraits, especially with the mild weather we've been having lately. I offer outdoor sessions at a location of your choice anywhere in Suffolk County. Call or email today to schedule a session!

Last week I had the privilege to shoot the Arts Academy Masquerade Gala Fundraiser for the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center. Let me tell you, this wasn't just any old Halloween party, either. The detail and the thought that everyone put into their costumes was fantastic. The event was held at the Sea Star Ballroom in Riverhead, which is a part of the Long Island Aquarium (formerly Atlantis Marine World), so guests were able to go into the aquarium during the party. Let me tell you, it's not often when I'm covering an event that someone says "Would you like to go shoot the sea lion show?" Heck yeah, I would.
It was really such a pleasure to do this event. I saw a show at WHBPAC last month and they do amazing work. I highly recommend paying them a visit, or looking into their Arts Academy for your children. They have classes and camps if your kids take an interest in the performing arts. I was in the drama and art camp at Stony Brook School Summer Programs when I was a kid, so I know how amazing an experience that can be for a child. That's why I donated a family photo session to their fundraiser. It's so important to support the arts!
If anyone out there still doesn't have a Halloween costume, major inspiration is ahead! Without any further ado, here are the photos! (Click to see larger and use arrows to scroll.)

I'm not a huge fan of the summers here on Long Island. I don't like sweating and my curly hair is perfectly incorrigible in the humidity. I often ask "What is the opposite of a snowbird? I think I could be that." The one thing I do like about summer is going to the beach. The light near the end of a clear day is a miracle for photographs. In fact, it's referred to as "magic" or "golden" hour because of the lovely light it casts. I think it's especially gorgeous against the backdrop of sand and sky.
Recently I had the pleasure of meeting 2 year old Ryan and his parents Amy and Jim. We had a great session at one of their favorite spots, Cedar Beach in Mt. Sinai. Ryan had a lot of fun exploring the beach. We even ran into a cute little bunny enjoying his dinner. He's a really adventurous kid and I think it shows in his photos. It was fun to see his eyes light up every time a plane passed overhead. Here are some of my favorite shots of Ryan and his parents.

As the very wise Kermit the Frog sang in my favorite Christmas movie, " The promise of excitement is one the night will keep. After all, there's only one more sleep 'til Christmas".
There's something magical about Christmas Eve so I thought I'd share one of my favorite holiday photo sessions with you today. This is the Cameron Family. You can find them all over my website! I told mom Erin that she could write the book on coordinating outfits for a photo shoot. They look great and we had a blast that day. My favorite image is of them laughing together. I love catching these moments because they're spontaneous and real. A moment like that can't be reproduced.
I hope you all have moments like that this holiday season.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
I can't wait to see more of you in 2015!
