Emily and Thomas are really used to me sticking my camera lens in their faces. I've been photographing their family since little Emily was christened. If you've visited this blog before, you've probably seen the Cameron family at some point. Their grandma Emily (little Emily's namesake) has been friends with my mom since they were in 1st grade. Grandma Emily thought it would be a fun idea to bring little Emily and Thomas to the beach for a photo session to give to their mom Erin for her birthday. They're a big beach family and little Emily especially loves mermaids, so this was a perfect opportunity to get her tail on and visit the shore!

They, of course, did an excellent job because they know by now that when I'm around, it's time to break out their serious modeling skills. Here are my favorite photos from the session!

My heart melted a little when Christian’s mom told me why she wanted to book a photo session for her son. She wanted to gift the photos to her husband for his first Father’s Day. She especially wanted to try to recreate a special photo taken of him when he was a kid, of him with two Mickey Mouse stuffed toys. Being a big Disney lover, I was so glad she asked me to help her with this very sweet portrait session.

Christian did so well in the studio! Some kids have a tough time sitting up at seven months old, but he did a great job. I couldn’t get over his very inquisitive beautiful blue eyes. He really enjoyed pushing the Radio Flyer around, and that made for my favorite photo of the day.

I always love when clients give the gift of photography. It's so meaningful and that meaning will last for generations. Making a tradition of photos means the memories will go on way beyond our time. I'm so glad I was able to help contribute to the memories of this beautiful family! Here are more of my favorite photos from Christian's special portrait session!

I was there for the baby shower, the maternity photos, the newborn session, the Christening, the Christmas photos, and now, finally, the 1st birthday cake smash for twin brothers Vincent and Louis! These guys were smiling and ready for their session from the get go. I mean, they should be used to it at this point, right? I’m not even sure these boys would recognize me if there wasn’t a lens in front of my face.

They gave me a ton of smiles and made each other laugh a lot during our session. I have a feeling they’re going to be doing that their whole lives! Once we did photos in their cute outfits, we stripped them down to just a diaper cover and bow tie to get to the main event...the cake smash! Now I thought they were going to take after their cousin Addison, whose cake smash I shot in December. She attacked her cake with gusto!

Vincent and Louis, however, were much more reserved when the cakes came out! They each dipped a finger or two in the cake and took dainty little tastes of the frosting. It wasn’t until we got both boys and both cakes together that they really dug in. I think they were more interested in what each other had, so it spurred them on to get their hands dirty!
I think they liked it! Here are some of my favorite photos from their session. Enjoy!

Merry 1st Christmas to Vincent and Louis! These two looked so dapper in their Christmas outfits. We all know babies are cute, but put a bow tie on them? This is a whole other level of aww we’re talking about here. They even brought along their Christmas jammies to take a few photos in.

These kids are definitely used to me flashing my lights in their face, because I’ve photographed pretty much every step of the way. Because of that, they extended me the considerable courtesy of not spitting up until we were right at the tail end of the session. It was so much appreciated! :D

So I shot Addison’s newborn photos and then I blinked...and it’s her 1st birthday already! She came back to the studio for some Christmas shots and a 1st birthday shoot, because she’s a December baby. We started off in her adorable Christmas dress, then did some family photos. Then she changed into a very cute 1st birthday outfit...and then...the cake smash!!

Boy, did she get into it. She was quite literally covered in frosting from head to toe. I’m not quite sure how much cake ended up in her mouth, but I know she enjoyed it immensely. Her parents had quite a cleanup on their hands afterwards, but she left the studio squeaky clean, with maybe just a tad bit of frosting behind the ears! In my opinion, we should all attack our birthday cakes with as much gusto as Addison! Well, maybe more like half the gusto. A quarter, at least. :D

Happy 1st birthday, kiddo!

Big brother Dominic was so loving and sweet with his new baby brother Evan. He was so excited to be in photos with him. Most big brothers would have been begging to get these photos over with so they could take of their itchy sweaters, but Dominic was in no rush. He kept asking to jump in for more photos with his baby brother and I was happy to oblige. You can really tell that these two are going to be best friends for life.

Evan was also one of the sleepiest babies I’ve encountered so far. There was no crying, no diaper changes, no feeding breaks necessary. I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t even see his eyes open until his mom brought him back for their viewing session. That’s my kind of kid :)

Here are some of my favorite photos from Evan's newborn session!
These are Evan's birth announcements! I love how they came out!

I loved being a part of the Furry Friends Portrait Program at the Islip Public Library. It was so much fun meeting all the dogs that came in with their owners. All the pets were so well-behaved and (with the help of my trusty squeaky pig toy) they all looked right into the camera! I got a lot of great shots of these adorable pups and their owners. If you're a patron of the Islip Public Library, I encourage you to go check out their new courtyard where the program was held. It's a really lovely space with beautiful flowers, statues and really comfortable rocking chairs. The dogs definitely loved it!
Here are the adorable furry faces I met at the program.
Thank you to all the families that came in with their dogs for the program and thank you to the Islip Public Library for having me. Everyone there was so sweet and I hope to work with them again.

Ethan recently turned 2! I'm so glad I got to hang out with this special kid last weekend when he and his mom came to visit Long Island. Since I last saw Ethan, he's grown to be such a happy, adventurous, curious little boy, so of course I had to capture a few photos of him exploring outside in my back yard. He's a little ball of energy, but I managed to keep up with him as he played a little soccer and discovered my woefully weedy garden bed
 (I'll get to it soon...probably!)
Here are a few photos of the adorable Ethan!

This is part 1 of Diana and Mike's maternity photos! We went to two outdoor locations this day, but didn't get everything done that we had planned, so Diana and I got together a few days later to do some more photos in studio.
That session will be posted at a  later date, so stay tuned for those!

We started out our photo shoot at Heckscher State Park in East Islip, which overlooks the Great South Bay. This was my first time shooting a session there and I'd love to go back. There were a lot of different beautiful areas that made great backdrops for photography. It was a little windy near the water for some of the props we wanted to incorporate, so we then traveled to the Stony Brook duck pond, the site of the vicious swan attack I survived last winter (read about that here
)! Thankfully, there were no repeat waterfowl offenses this time.  Diana was a trooper climbing up the big stone steps to the labyrinth there. In fact, she volunteered!
Here are some of my favorite photos from this day!

Whenever I ask my mom what she wants for any birthday or holiday, the answer is always "A day to do nothing but sit on the couch and watch tv.....and nice photos of you two girls!" No matter how many photos she has of my sister and me, she always wants more. It's the gift that moms never get tired of. Being that I'm a photographer, she gets her wish plenty. A lot of moms don't, though. Life gets in the way and families go years without getting professional photos taken. That's a real shame, because one thing all parents know is that kids grow up fast.

So if you're still looking for that perfect gift for the amazing mom in your life, I'm happy to offer gift certificates for portrait sessions. You can buy them in any amount, but a purchase of $150 covers a full session fee and comes with a free framed 8x10. Sessions can take place in my Farmingville home studio or a location of your choice within Suffolk County, Long Island. Gift certificates can be issued physically or digitally.
