Wilhelmina is an old friend of mine from our undergrad days in the art department of Stony Brook University. She's a very talented painter. Her landscapes and seascapes are fantastic, but my personal favorite are her paintings of animals (of course I would love those, right?). Check out her work here and here!

I love the shots we got at her engagement session a few years ago with her now-husband Patrick and their adorable pups, Phoenix, Kya and Schatzi. I was honored to be there at their beautiful wedding and I was so excited when she let me know that her pack was expanding by one, a baby boy coming this March! We met in November at the beautiful Prosser Pines with their whole crew for some maternity photos to celebrate the upcoming arrival of baby Killian, who I can't wait to meet! The dogs were so amazing and sweet, just the same as last time. I only had to pull out a few of my silly noises to get them to look my way.

Even though it was a cold day, everyone braved the elements to get some great shots to commemorate the beautiful mama to be. Kya and Schatzi definitely needed their sweaters, but Phoenix with his fluffy coat was totally in his element! There are always so many laughs whenever I'm around this happy couple, and I'm so excited for them to start this new chapter in their lives! Here are some of my favorite photos from our maternity session!

If your maternity session won't be complete without your pack of pups, book it with me by emailing me at laurapeaphotography@gmail.com or calling (631)256-7476!

These beautiful girls are Nova and Halzie! Their birthdays are close together, so their mom Jasmine got in touch with me to take some photographs to commemorate their special days, and to take some great family shots. We met at the Sagamore Hill National Historic Site. I'd never been there and it was a really cool place to visit. Sagamore Hill was Theodore Roosevelt's residence on Long Island, and known as his "Summer White House". Since we visited during  a rough time in the pandemic, we couldn't go inside without reserving a tour, but I had a great time exploring the grounds with the pups and their mom and dad!

We hiked through the woods, stopping here and there to get a few portraits and candid shots. We ended up at this really adorable bridge and beach area. Nova and Halzie were happy to wear any outfit their mom packed for them, and they looked absolutely adorable in every one!

Here are some of my favorite shots from our session!

I love when people give the gift of photography. I don’t know one mom who thinks she has enough professional photos of her kids, so it's almost a sure bet that this a gift they'll love and appreciate. Shannon is a mom and a dog walker, and one of her clients got in touch with me this fall to purchase a gift card for her as an early Christmas gift. We arranged to meet at a local park with her son Brendan and their dog Gracie for some holiday photos. Since my dog is also named Gracey, just spelled a different way, we got to talking about dog names. It turns out, in addition to naming our dogs the same thing, we also both had Winnie on the short list of dog names!

Their Gracie is an adorable Yorkshire Terrier and she did amazing for her photos.  We did some of the whole family, some of Gracie on her own, and some of Brendan and Gracie, to commemorate the very special bond they share. We had a great time talking while we walked and shot photos along the beautiful trails in the park. It was so nice to get to know this sweet family. Shannon told me she hadn't gotten professional photos done in so many years, so I was very happy to be able to capture some for them!

I love the way that Gracie was tilting her head in so many of these photos. I have an arsenal of silly noises I can make to catch a dog's attention. Usually once they hear a noise a few times, they get used to it and it doesn't get them to look anymore. That's why I've developed so many, and Gracie was interested in every one of them. If you're ever at a Long Island beach or park, and you hear a woman squeaking, whistling, humming, and generally sounding like an absolute weirdo, there's a good chance it's me trying to get a dog to look my way. It's all worth it for those adorable head tilts that all dog owners know and love!

Here are some of my favorite photos from our session!

Daisy is one lucky dog. Her back yard looks out on a beautiful creek on the East End of Long Island. She has a dock behind her house with a gorgeous view and lots of smells for her to explore. She also has two doting parents who love her so much! Her mom Nancy was gifted a session with me by some friends. It was great to get to know her and her husband Steve a little while we did some holiday photos at their house.

We did this session in mid-October before it got too cold. It’s much easier to feel comfortable outside in your Christmas sweaters when it’s in the 60s as opposed to the 30s! We also wanted to take advantage of the beautiful fall foliage before it was gone.

Daisy is so unbelievably cute. I love her coloring. She did such a great job during our shoot.  She was more than happy to keep posing for photos as long as the biscuits kept coming! We started out in their yard first for some solo shots of Daisy and some cozy family shots on a picnic blanket. Then we headed down to the dock for some more family photos and some candids of the trio walking to and from the water. We headed inside to end out our session in front of the family fire place. When we were through, Daisy had a full belly and a big smile (and probably a nap in front of the fire place. I told you she was lucky!)

Here are some of my favorite photos from Daisy’s session!

I was so happy to work with the West Babylon Public Library for a fall pet portrait program this year. This was my first time doing the program at this library but we had so much interest that the library had to open up more spots several times! They had a beautiful fall display set up for patrons and their pets! It looked fantastic.

We got a ton of dogs, some cats, a ferret, a family of 5 Guinea pigs, and even a bunny rabbit! If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ve probably heard me saying I’ve been wanting to photograph a bunny for so long and I’m so happy I finally got to! Her name was Honey Bunny and she was adorable and so fluffy, I couldn’t stop petting her. Thank you SO much to the library for putting together a fantastic day, and to all the patrons who came with their pets. We talked about doing a summer program next year, so stay tuned for that! Here are some of the adorable photos we got that day!

This session was a gift from Janelle's husband Richard, to showcase her strong bond with her sweet pup Louie! I love when people give the gift of photography. It always ends up being such a special gift because it's both an experience and the end result of getting beautiful photos with the ones you love most. Janelle is so close with her boy Louie, she described him to me as the love of her life. I totally understand that feeling! They've been through so much together and it was amazing to hear a little bit about their story. Louie is not only her companion and pet, he's her hero.

We met at a local park to take a little hike in the woods. The whole family came along for the ride, but this day was just about the special bond between Janelle and Louie. I love the way his beautiful cream coat looks against the dark background of the trees and plants. Louie was such a good sport, jogging when we asked him so we could get action shots, sitting and laying when we wanted portraits. He also posed really well with Janelle for some sweet shots together. I was so glad to be able to capture some beautiful shots of this special pup for his biggest fan to cherish.

Here are some of my favorite photos of Louie from our session!

I’m so excited to be coming back to Barkfield Road in East Northport for the first time since the pandemic started! I’ve missed doing photo events there so much. It’s such an amazing pet store! You need to visit if you're a Long Island dog lover! They’re putting on a Fall puppy parade around the square they're located in and a costume contest. The event will be on Sunday, October 16th from 10am-1pm and will be sponsored by Primal Pet Foods! Look out for PSLs for the pups made with their pumpkin spice goat milk!

After the costume contest, I’ll be taking photos of pets inside the store! Fall or Halloween props and a backdrop will be available. Photo appointments will start at 10:30am!

These will be quick 10 minute sessions where we take a few photos and pet parents can choose their favorite ones and order 4x6s, 5x7s and 8x10s. There won’t be any sitting fee and product prices will be as follows:

It's such an honor to be nominated for Best Pet Photographer on Long Island. This is the third year in a row I've been nominated, and each time it happens, I get such a shock. My business is very high touch but pretty low volume. I work very closely with just a small number of clients a year to create a really custom experience for those who choose to invest with me. So the fact that enough people took the time to nominate me to get me on the ballot really means so much to me. Thank you so much to everyone who nominated me!

If you'd like to vote for me, you can do so once a day per email address at this link!

VOTE HERE!

Scroll down in the pets category to get to the subcategory of pet photographer! For now, my business name is spelled incorrectly as "Laura Pea Photograghy" but you know who I am haha!
You can vote once a day until December 15th. Thank you so much!

Sadie's dad Daniel got in touch with me because he received a gift card from a friend for this session. I love when people give the gift of photography, so I was excited to meet him and his pup! He and I discussed a few options for where we wanted this shoot to take place, and he kept going back to how much he loved the view in his backyard! That worked perfectly, because dogs are usually the most relaxed and at ease on their own turf!

Sadie is a beautiful Vizsla with a gorgeous deep red coat and such a sweet personality. She had fun running around the pool, playing ball in the yard and exploring the dock behind their house. She's a young dog so she had a ton of energy! We got plenty of action shots, but she also posed beautifully alone and with Daniel. You can tell from their photos that they have a very strong bond! Sadie looks at him like he hung the moon, it's so sweet to see!

Here are some of my favorite photos from their session!
