I'll be at the Middle Country Public Library again doing pet portraits! Last year we did this program for the first time in the Selden building, and we'll be there again this year! It's this Saturday from 11am-2pm with a rain date of the same time on the following Saturday!
This program is open only to patrons of Middle Country and there are some spots left!

It's always a fun time when Daniela of Who Lets Your Dog Out hosts one of her Yappy Hour events! Daniela is undertaking a very important and difficult task, to get Patchogue a much-needed dog park! This area is very dog-friendly and pups and their parents could really use a place to gather. Right now she's raising awareness and gathering input to demonstrate community interest and need for this venture. The Yappy Hour event was a fundraiser for their efforts! There were raffles, rescue groups, vendors, splash pads, a photo booth, and lots of fun for the dogs.
My fellow vendors besides the lovely Daniela were pet portrait artist Sydney Shurgin, Bark n Roll Dog Grooming, dog food and chew company Pet Wants, and rescue group Carol's Senior Pet Sanctuary.
I got my dog Gracey and my dog nephew Hopper some duck feet and lambs' ears from Pet Wants and they absolutely loved them. Sydney was offering $5 pet caricatures on the spot for pet parents, and I got her to do two for me, and they came out absolutely perfect!

Harold got in touch with me when he got an unfortunate diagnosis for his dog Finnley. Finn was a very special dog and had an incredibly strong bond with Harold. He shared with me some of the rough things that he'd gone through in the past few years that Finn had helped him through. I think Finn was just returning the favor, as Harold had saved him from the shelter where he'd been for over 2 years waiting for his forever home.
Finn and Harold came into the studio and even though Finn was sick, he did such an amazing job posing. I was happy that Harold also got into some shots with his beloved pup. Unfortunately Finn was gone very shortly after we met for our session. I helped Harold design the perfect album to memorialize Finn. Sometimes these photos can be tough to look at right after a loss, but I always tell clients that one day they'll look at them and smile instead of cry.
A few months after Finn passed, Harold told me that he had brought home his first foster dog Darla, a pit in need just like Finn was. It was so nice to hear he was honoring Finn's memory by helping another dog waiting for their forever home. Best of luck to them both!

I'm excited to announce I'll be participating in a popup show this weekend in Wantagh! This event was put together by Nick Girimonte & Kristen Ghiraldi and features a bunch of my Long Island Film Club buddies. There will be photographers, graphic designers and even tattoo artists in attendance. It's taking place at the Workshop in Wantagh from 3pm-6pm.
I'll be selling 4x6 prints, 8x10 prints, framed 8x8 prints, framed 11x14s, and some mini snapshots. I'm also excited to be debuting a special session I'll now be offering. I first did a three-headed composite portrait of my dog for fun one year on Halloween. I photographed her in multiple different positions, looking straight on and looking to the left and right. I put a bunch of different shots into Photoshop and worked some of my editing magic on them and created this:

My nephew always loved this photo of her. He thought it was so funny. Once my sister adopted her dog Hopper, my nephew requested that I do a similar one to give his pup three heads. He even helped me get his attention to get the shots!
When I decided to do this event, I thought this kind of shot would be a fun thing to offer to my clients. I decided to see if I could make the same kind of thing work with different pets. I asked my boyfriend Connor if I could photograph his two beloved cats Cole and Selena. It turns out it was just as straightforward to do cats than to do dogs! I love how these came out!
Then I had my first session photographing a snake for my friend Dylan! I figured if I could do this shot with a snake, I could do it with any pet! This one was so much fun! Loki did amazing (more shots of this handsome guy to come soon on this blog!)

Pet photography is always rewarding. It's so fun to be around pets because they make our lives so much better. Dogs especially have such goofy fun personalities that their presence in our lives is almost always a positive. The only drawback as the quote goes, is their lives are just too short. As a pet photographer, I often have clients coming to me to take their pets’ photos because they’ve gotten a bad diagnosis and they know the time is coming. These sessions can be hard because pet parents are dealing with a lot of difficult emotions, but they’re also incredibly special. It’s an honor to be a part of capturing something so important for my clients.
Many times these photos can be difficult to look at at first. I always tell clients that one day they’ll look at them and smile instead of cry. I know because I’ve been there. The reason I got into pet photography in the first place was because I lost my beloved Basil to cancer in 2016.
I did this very special session for Caitlin and Jax last year after Jax was given a very dire prognosis. The deep bond they shared was so obvious. Jax was Caitlin’s soul dog. Even though poor Jax wasn’t feeling his best, I could see him visibly relax whenever she touched him. All throughout the session, Caitlin told me stories about Jax and how he had changed her life. I’m so grateful I was able to capture these memories for them.
I only met Jax that one day, and the very next day he was gone. No matter how long I know a client’s dog, they always make a profound impression on me. They remind me why I do pet photography and how important the memories are that we make with our pets. The trust that pet parents place in me to document sessions like this is never taken for granted. I appreciate so much the opportunity to help them celebrate and commemorate members of their family that they adore so much. Jax will always be remembered and missed!

Mr. Bigby is the handsome German Shepherd you see below. He and his owner Dylan have a very special bond. Bigby used to live on the streets but now he's a pampered pup. Dylan is a very dedicated owner. He's even studying to become a veterinarian one day, so Bigby is now in the best hands possible after a rough start in life. We met at the West Hills County Park to explore some of the trails together and take some photos!
Bigby is super sweet and did such a great job posing! I especially love his ears and how they flop over a little bit at the top. He was making me laugh so much with his tongue sticking out in some of the photos. We had a blast going through the trails. I always like when owners get involved in the photos. It always ends up being a very special memory to look back on in the future. We did some shots of Dylan and Bigby together, some of Bigby on his own and some candids of them walking throughout the many trails in the park.
I'm excited to be shooting another session for Dylan soon, this time with his ball python Loki as the star of the show! Stay tuned for those!

I first met Bella and Cindy at one of my Barkfield Road holiday mini sessions back in 2018. Since then they've come to so many of my pet portrait events at pet boutiques and libraries all over Long Island. We had our first full session together in 2024 in Port Jefferson and Bella did an amazing job posing and so much fun chasing after her favorite ball. Bella has had a lot of health challenges over the years, and Cindy has always been great about keeping me updated on how Bella's doing. I love all the pets that I photograph and I always appreciate when their owners stay in touch and let me know how they're doing.
Bella is a very special pup! Cindy knows the importance of celebrating every moment when you've got a senior dog, so they came into the studio for Bella's 14th birthday to take some celebratory shots. She brought some balloons for us to hang up behind Bella and I put together a sign with her name and age. After we were done with those, we took them down because Cindy had a specific vision in mind for a photo with a brightly colored background that really focused close up on Bella's adorable face. We got some great stuff! After 7 years of photographing her, Bella is no stranger to the spotlight and she posed like a champ. Here are some of my favorite shots from that day!

I've known Cody for a good few years because his mom Nancy is the founder of the American Pet Professionals, a networking group I'm proud to be a member of. Nancy has always been so helpful to me in my business. I met Cody for the first time at a pet expo here on the island and would see him every time I ran into Nancy at various pet events all over the island. It was always good to see the two of them! Last year Nancy won a raffle basket at an event that I'd donated a mini session to, and I was so excited to get a chance to get Cody in my studio instead of just catching him out and about.
Anyone who ever met Cody was well-acquainted with his signature wave and his unique vocal stylings :D ! This guy always had something to say! We had so much fun at the session. Even though Cody was dealing with some health issues, he was as energetic as a puppy for photos. He made us laugh a ton with his antics. His mom always took so many wonderful photos of him all the time that he was very well-used to the process. We got some absolutely adorable shots that really captured his many expressions.
Nancy ordered my favorite product that I offer for Cody's photos, an image cube. When we met up for me to give it to her, her and Cody and I sat down at the Bean in Sayville and caught up. Cody was such a good boy wherever he went out in public and he was an absolute dog-person magnet. So many people always wanted to come up and say hi to him and talk to Nancy about the sweet pit bulls they knew in their lives. He was such a wonderful ambassador for his breed.
Sadly, Cody's health continued to decline and a few days ago Nancy had to make the hard decision to say goodbye to him. I'm so honored that I was able to get to know him and photograph such a special pup. Hug your pups tight in honor of sweet Cody. Here are some of my favorite shots we got that day in the studio!

This was a whirlwind of a year for me personally, but business-wise it was one of my best! I was voted Best Pet Photographer on Long Island this year, and it was all thanks to having the best clients in the world. I want to thank everyone who worked with me this year, and who has ever supported my business. It means so much to me to be able to do what I love.
Once the hectic Christmas rush is over, I always take the last two weeks of the year off to catch my breath, spend time with family and friends, and frankly eat an ungodly amount of cheese, so this is me signing off for a little bit. But before I go, I have to share my own Christmas photos! My nephew Seth always wants a photo with his dog Hopper, and of course I have to document every Christmas with my baby Gracey. I am so thankful to have had 8 Christmases with her so far and I hope to have many more.
