General FAQ
What kinds of sessions do you shoot?
I offer different kinds of photo shoot sessions to fit your style.
1. Studio sessions take place in my home studio in Farmingville. It is outfitted with professional studio lights, props and backdrops. Due to the large nature of these lights, they are unable to be transported. These sessions can run for several hours long with the option for a variety of poses, backdrops and outfit changes.
PLEASE BE AWARE: There are several small steps leading to the entrance of my home and my studio is located on the second floor of my house. If anyone coming to the session has problems with climbing stairs, please let me know ahead of time and I will make arrangements for my lights and backgrounds to be set up on the first floor of my home! You can also choose option 2 and pick a location that is more accessible.
2. Outdoor On Location sessions, weather permitting. For these, I will travel to a location of your choice within Suffolk County, Long Island.
*Note that though I specialize in newborns and pets, I love to shoot all kinds of photography. Check out my other work at Flickr.
What is your style?
My style is a blend of traditional and candid portrait photography. First I capture images of my subjects posed and then I also like to make photographs of a family interacting naturally together. This style of shooting allows for a great variety of images that can be used for many purposes. I find this to be the best way to document a special time in your family's life.
What happens after I make my appointment?
After your appointment is booked, I will send you a "What to Expect" guide and ask you to fill out my client questionnaire. I will then contact you for a pre-consultation to discuss the aims of your photo shoot, and send you a contract detailing the particulars. This contract must be signed before the photo shoot takes place.
What happens after my photography session?
At the end of your portrait session, we will schedule an appointment to meet for an ordering session. At this appointment, you will view your edited images and order products. I offer photographic prints, collages, canvases, press printed albums, custom cards, and lo-res digital files perfectly sized for posting to social media and web-sharing. Payment for products is due at the time of your ordering session.
What is your background in photography?
I've always loved taking photos for as long as I can remember because both of my parents were photography enthusiasts. In 1999, my mother gave me her 1980 Canon AV-1 camera and my father taught me how to use it. I worked for a photography studio during my years in college. In 2010, I graduated magna cum laude from Stony Brook University with a BA in Studio Art with concentrations in printmaking and photography, and minors in Art History and Digital Art. During my time there, I was a teaching assistant for the introductory photography class and I also worked in the photography darkroom. I still miss the smell of developing chemicals, but nowadays I shoot digital with my trusty Nikon. I was a hobbyist for years shooting my friends' engagements and babies, but I opened my professional photography business in 2014.
