Wines and K-9’s Fundraiser Walk 10.7.18

9/24/2018

For the past 4 years, my friends and I have been walking in the Wines and Canines fundraiser for Kent Animal Shelter. It’s held every year at the Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard. We take a beautiful walk through the vineyards, bid on some raffle prizes, eat yummy food, drink some great wine and coo over the adorable adoptable pets. It’s always an amazing day. This year has been a bit slow in terms of donations. We’ve only got a little less than 2 weeks left and we’re not that close to our goal!

Kent Animal Shelter has been saving the lives of animals all over the United States for decades. This time of year, they get many homeless pets from hurricane rescue efforts. Hurricane Florence has left a lot of animals in need and Kent is stepping in to do their part. They need our support to do that! Please consider donating to help save animals. If you’re local to Long Island, you can also register to join us at the walk or make a fundraising team of your own!

If you’re joining us at the walk, you will also be able to find my basket in their raffle for the third year in a row! I’ve donated a basket with a free photo session and a $100 print credit.

I’m so looking forward to this amazing event. Kent Animal Shelter is where my family adopted our beloved dog Whiskey back in 1996 and every time we fundraise for them, I feel like I’m giving back to a place that gave me so much.

You can donate here!
Thank you to everyone who’s donated to our team in the past!

[Free Printable] Fall Photo Checklist

9/22/2018

This past year, I've been doing a new photo checklist for every season to make sure your yearly photo albums aren't just photos of your summer vacation and then your kids on Santa's lap. There's a lot of fun to be had in every season, and in my opinion, Fall is the most fun of them all. This has always been my favorite season. I love the colors, I love the weather, I love Halloween candy. What could be better?

Nowadays people always carry a camera around with them, but they rarely ever take more than a couple of selfies when they're out having fun. Looking around at the beauty of each season can make your family photo album that much more special. And for all you moms out there, make sure to get in some of the photos yourself. Moms tend to take the photos and neglect to get in them sometimes.
Your kids will want to see you in that photo album one day.

You’ll receive an email with the link to my freebies page, where you can download the checklist and all my other freebies. If you’re already an email subscriber, I sent out a newsletter with the checklist this morning, so check your inbox! There will always be a link to the freebies page at the bottom of every email.

Happy Shooting!

Caroline & Nathaniel’s Newborn Session (featuring Benjamin the Dog)

9/18/2018

From the first email exchange I had with Caroline and Nathaniel’s mom, I knew she was a client I was going to connect with. She was a Harry Potter fan like me and she wanted to get her and her husband’s Airedale Terrier Benjamin Franklin (how cute is that name?!) involved in the photos. It’s not very often that I can combine my specialties of newborn and pet photography, so when I get the chance to do that, it’s very special.

Benjamin was so sweet and gentle with twins Caroline and Nathaniel. At one point, I wanted to try and get a shot of him giving them a kiss. While I was strategizing with mom and dad on how to get the shot (a little spot of peanut butter on Nathaniel’s head perhaps?), he just went ahead and did it without us even trying! I can tell he’s really going to love his baby brother and sister.
We eventually gave Benjamin the rest of the day off and went inside for some photos of just the twins. They did really well through several different outfit and blanket changes. Their mom knitted them the pea pod outfit, a beautiful Gryffindor blanket and the adorable blueberry and raspberry caps. Their grandma made them blue and pink hats to wear. I was so impressed by their craftiness. It really added a special touch to the session. Mom Sarah was so sweet, that she even gifted me the pea pod outfit when I went to drop off their products. I can’t wait to use it with my next set of twins!
Here are some more of my favorite photos of Nathaniel and Caroline!

Baby Seth’s Newborn Session No. 3

9/14/2018

Now here we come to the third and final installment of my nephew Seth’s newborn photos. I’m really sad that it’s come to an end. I honestly wish I’d done even more than 3 days of shooting photos of him, as crazy as it sounds! But I’m going to be taking photos of him until old age and arthritis takes the use of my shutter finger, so you’re never really going to stop seeing him, of course.

At 2 months old, Seth looks so different from when he came home from the hospital. It’s amazing how you don’t realize he’s changing day to day but when you look back at his newborn photos, he looks like a different baby. He’s brought so much love and joy to our family in just 2 months. I can’t wait to see him continue to change and grow. We all love him so much.

Did you miss Seth’s other newborn photos? See Part 1 here and Part 2 here!

Photos from Yappy Hour Patchogue 8.28.18

I was happy to be there to photograph another Yappy Hour event last week at New Village in Patchogue, hosted by Daniela of Who Lets Your Dog Out. There were so many adorable doggies there and they all got along so well. They were playing so sweetly together! It was nice to see this because my own Gracey is a little iffy when it comes to other dogs. (We’re working on that at her trainer’s doggy social hours though)!

The humans also had a great time socializing and watching their dogs run around and play. I met so many great people and pups, especially one of the elder statesmen of the group, a Wheaten named Maggie. Her and her mom were so sweet!

Daniela had snacks and drinks for everyone and even a little rock painting station for the kiddos to enjoy. The folks over at New Village are always so helpful and accommodating during these events. Thanks to them and to Daniela for making these get togethers happen!
Here are some of my favorite photos from the event!
