Fall Festival Pet Portrait Program at Middle Country Public Library 10.11.19

9/25/2019

I'll be back at the Middle Country Public Library for the fourth year in a row (!!!!) for my pet portrait program! We're going back to the theme we had for the first year, which was a beautiful Fall theme! I'm very excited for that, since Fall is my favorite season! The program will be held on Friday, October 11th from 6pm-8pm.

Make sure your pet is clean, well-behaved around other animals, and on a leash or in a carrier. We've had dog, cats, ferrets and even turtles come to this program, so don't think this is just for the pups. Bring on all the pets, I say!

Like last year, there will be a gorgeous setup where I'll be taking your pet's portrait (and yours if you'd like), and also a green scene portrait station, where someone from the library will take a snapshot of you and insert a digital background for you to take home that day! Your portrait by me will be ready to pick up from the library about a week later.

We have 45 people registered for the program and 5 spots left at the time of this post! This particular program is only for Middle Country Public Library patrons!

Sign up for the program here!

Rylee’s Newborn Session

9/20/2019

Meet sweet little Rylee! At the beginning of her session, Rylee was wide awake. We joked that in the first few frames, she looked like she was giving me side eye, like... “I don’t know about this lady”. I think I passed the test though, because she soon fell fast asleep and even gave me a few sleepy smiles, which I love so much.

Rylee has a big support system. Her mom Maria and dad Timothy were accompanied to the session by Rylee’s big sister Haiden and her older cousins Samantha and Taylor, who are sharing the job of being godmother to Rylee. You could tell they’re up to the task by how helpful they were during the session. They helped big sister Haiden get dressed for her photos with Rylee and even stood behind me to help make her smile.

Maria told me Haiden doesn’t really love picture time, so she wasn’t sure we were going to get any photos of her. After I showed her a few of the photos I’d gotten on the back of my camera, Haiden decided I wasn’t so bad after all, and she gave me some beautiful smiles. She also did an excellent job holding her baby sister for photos. She’s going to be an amazing big sister to Rylee!

Here are some of my favorite photos from our session!

Photos from Yappy Hour September 2019

It's been a while since I've been at a Yappy Hour and I'm so happy I finally was able to make it to one of these great events. These are hosted by Daniela of Who Lets Your Dog Out. She has a dog walking/playing/sitting business based in Patchogue. She puts on these great events to give back to her dog walking clients, to expose them to other pet businesses in the area, to let clients' dogs socialize with each other, and just to have a good time. Daniela had even set up a little doggy treat buffet for clients to enjoy. This one took place at New Village in Patchogue.

I got to hang out with a lot of Daniela's clients and their adorable dogs, some of whom I've met at other events, and I made some new friends too. We even discussed a fun new project that we're hoping to do at New Village, which you'll hear about once we figure out more details!

It's always so much fun to go those these kinds of events and to meet with local dog lovers. One of the owners, who I'd met last summer, was so surprised when I asked about her dog by name, because she  wasn't with her. She couldn't believe I'd remembered the dog's name after only meeting her once. I get this a lot, and my response is always "People's names I can't remember, but I never forget their dog". :)

Here are some of the unforgettable dogs I hung out with that day!

Nina’s Family Maternity Session

9/16/2019

One of the best things about my library programs are the families I meet. I immediately hit it off with mom Nina when I met her and her son Owen at my first Islip Public Library pet portrait program. We connected on Instagram and I then shot her daughter Juliette’s 1st birthday photos and some adorable Valentine’s Day photos to surprise her husband Donald. I was so excited for them when I found out Nina was expecting again!

Nina told me her babies tend to come early, so we planned a session a little earlier than normal. Boy, was that a good idea. A few days after our session, she was put on bed rest. We got that in just in the nick of time! Nina was right about her babies too. At the time of this writing, little baby Evelyn has already joined us and she’s doing well!

Since Nina knew she wanted to take it easy for her maternity session, we decided to do it at my home studio. When they arrived, the light was still very nice out, so we ended up walking around my yard in a few different spots before heading inside. Juliette and Owen had a lot of fun and thoroughly enjoyed the spread of cookies I’d put out for the family to enjoy!

I’m so excited for this new party of five and I can’t wait to meet sweet little Evelyn! Here are some of my favorite photos from Nina’s maternity family session!
Originally, Nina was going to come back into the studio for her viewing appointment to see all her photos and we were going to take a few more photos of Juliette in her 2nd birthday outfit. But by that time, Nina was on bed rest, so I went over to their house and we took a few shots of Juliette in a little ball pit they fashioned out of a kiddy pool. Juliette enjoyed that and a little time in her swing. Their dog Bolt even made a quick appearance!
I’m so excited for this sweet family and for Juliette and Owen to get a new baby sister. I can’t wait to meet little Evelyn!

I love doing these types of programs, because I get to meet a lot of local animal lovers. Long Island families really adore their pets, and I'm so happy to be able to give them a chance to let their pets get the spotlight.
